Nanocellulose at the IMPACT Lab: From Isolation to Biorenewable Composites
by
Texas Southern University
Nanocellulose, a highly abundant biopolymer, is increasingly gaining interest as a sustainable and versatile biomaterial for advanced manufacturing. It holds promise in fields such as packaging, composites, and biomedicine, but conventional processing techniques limit its widespread industrial adoption. A major barrier to the application of nanocellulose across industries is its commonly used processing methods, which pose challenges related to inconsistent material performance. This presentation will highlight the latest research progress made at the IMPACT lab on advancing nanocellulose processing for the development of novel biorenewable composites and scaffolds.
